The national working-and-living guide says foreign nationals can bring a valid passport or Foreign Permanent Resident ID Card to a commercial-bank outlet to apply for a bank card. An application is not a promise that a particular account product will be opened or offer every function you need.
Questions to take to the branch
- Which original identity document and other supporting papers does this branch require for this account?
- Does the product require a local contact number or address? If so, what evidence will the branch accept?
- What are the account and card fees, any minimum balance, and the expected processing time?
- Will the account support the functions you need, such as salary receipt, mobile banking or international transfers? Which functions need separate activation?
- How will the bank update your identity record if your passport or residence document changes?
These are questions, not a universal document list. Ask the branch for its written requirements and current product terms. If a document is requested, ask whether that is a bank-product condition or an applicable regulatory requirement.
If the application pauses
Ask which specific item is missing, whether another account product meets your purpose, and which official bank channel can review the issue. An employer can provide employment evidence if the bank requests it, but an employer cannot decide the bank’s eligibility rules. Keep account-specific details out of third-party chat services.
